One of my best friends had a VTX 1800,he now has the 05' Ultra CVO and even tho he rides a Harley,hw still says the 1800 was lighter, faster, and had a longer wheel base. He love the CVO but he still swears the VTX will out run the stock 05' Ultra CVO. I ride the 08 RG and whenever I ride along with my bud on the Ultra,if he wants to,he can pull right off and leave me.

He said that he got the motor from some place down in north carolina.Soi i got to thinking and thus i wanted to put this on the forum and ask when is a harley no longer a harley anymore to some of you in cases like this were the motor is completely replaced?
If the bike had a (reliable) HD motor, perhaps it wouldn't be on a trailer.

Does it really matter?
Just like the old story of the carpenter that has been using the same hammer for 50 years. He has replaced the handle many times and the head a few times but it is still the same hammer.

A stock FLHX isn't going to blow anything away, especially NOT an 1800.

...and what the heck is a Yamaha V4 1800 ???? Link?

Good question! The answer depends on who you ask.

If he sells it, on paper it is a Harley, but when he has an issue with the engine and needs repairs, I don't think the local HD Dealer/Wrench will still think it is a Harley.

So to some of you if the bike frame is a harley then that is all that matters to you.If you replace the entire motor with something other then a harley motor to me in my opinion along with my friends who i have asked they feel it is not a harley anymore.

Well he did say he was getting some transmission work fixed on the bike.I was just amazed that when is enough a enough in chasing these numbers of horsepower/torque to ride on your local streets and highways to just cruise.
