I myself stand behind what i said and that to me if you take the heart of the harley which is that motor completely off that bike and replace it with something different from harley then in my opinion its no longer a true harley.

He said that he got the motor from some place down in north carolina.Soi i got to thinking and thus i wanted to put this on the forum and ask when is a harley no longer a harley anymore to some of you in cases like this were the motor is completely replaced?
It's like the old Jaguars that had the engines removed by their owners, only to be replaced by Chevy 350's. Was it really a Jag anymore? It looked like it, but the "heart" of the beast was gone.....

this sounds too much like when i was driving through muskogee on a four lane boulevard in my corvette. a friggin toyota corolla pulled up next to me, started teasing, thinking he could get me to romp on the LS2 motor. he romped on his little hong kong piece of crap, and left me in his dust. i got two words to say about that. "SO?" my vette will devour vipers with all the lingenfelter stuff i've done to it. but to get teased into rompin on my vette for a corolla, nah, thanks anyway. as far as your harley, if some kid on a 600 rice grinder wants to, he can eat most big twins. "SO?"

You can only get so much out of an air cooled, 45* V-twin, pushrod, 96CI engine suffocated by EPA regs.

Once a Harley, always a Harley.... Doesn't matter if it's got an S&S motor, or any other kind of motor, maybe a Baker Trans...come on here, if it started out as a Harley, then it's a stinkin' Harley... No real math to do on this one.

Like I said earlier, what is on the title is what it is. My only real example is an old shovel I worked on over the years. Everything on the bike was changed out at some point except the frame. The engine had STD cases, S&S heads, aftermarket cylinders and rocker boxes, all the internals were aftermarket, Rowe, Manley, etc. The suspension, brakes, everything else was aftermarket. The only original HD item was the frame, but when sold, the title said "Harley", it's still a Harley until the paper says otherwise, easy enough to figure out. Sure, you may feel it's no longer a Harley, but the paper rules.

Many hot rodders take old fat-fendered Fords and slide a Chevy 350 under the hood.

Even though I hate this expression...JUST SAYIN'
