What do you think about this trunk on an '07 Standard with the removable backrest and luggage rack? This would be for everyday use as I have a large bag/roll bag for touring. I think I like the way it looks but just can't decide.
It isn't very big but I'm not looking for big. Dimensions are 16" L x 10.25" W x 12.5" H. There is one on Ebay for $80 plus $11 for shipping to my location. Sure would like to see some different pics of it.
Saddleman does make a great product.....But i find anything that is expandable is a big plus. ALOT of bags out there...was a nice one for sale in classifieds....Good luck on your quest for a new bag!!!!
get the trunk. It's worth it. I've got an ultra and I installed the relocation kit from HD 4 years ago with duetch connectors for my wires buried under my saddle and it's so cnvienient now. I can take my trunk on and off in a matter of minutes.
It looked pretty good, and the $80 price sounds perfect. Are you going to permanantly mount it? I think it would look pretty good on the back of a Standard and would be a LOT cheaper than the tourpak. I like the leather Tourpak luggage but at $650 it is a bit expensive.
I had a LeatherLyke set of bags (including trunk) on my RoadGlide a couple years back. Both saddle bags and trunk were plastic with a leather look exterior. They looked really good, in fact I liked them so much I put them on a Star Roadliner I had as well. Here's a picture of the saddle bags on the Star ... remember this is just for comparison.
The trunk comes in 3 sizes and bolts directly to the luggage rack. I put the mid-sized trunk (with small passenger pad) on and I really liked it. The BEST part is that both saddles bags and trunck could be locked, so you had a lot more protection than from a regularly leather sissy bar/luggage rack bag.
I don't think I will permanently mount it. The rack and backrest are removable so I would rather have the trunk disappear that the whole setup. Nice looking Star. My brother-in-law has one and really likes it and my wife has a V Star Custom.
