Default Footboard Adjustment

I'm new to the touring models and was looking through my owners manual last night. I saw that the rider's footboards are supposed to be adjustable, but it just said to contact your dealer. My question is just how much adjustment is there, and which way, up, down or forward and back. I looked at the brackets and they don't look too adjustable to me, but then what do I know. I'll be buying a maintenance manual so there's no need to be going there.

What year is your bike? They are not adjustable on the 09's and up. On the earlier models there is a small range of adjustment. It is about 1". The front bracket can be moved up or down as there are two holes to mount the brackets.

Loosen the rear bracket bolts and remove the front bolts. Slid the boards up or down accordingly in the front, reinstall bolts and tighten everything up. Once again, this option was eliminated on the 09's and 10's.

It's an '09 Street Glide. Like I said, I looked at the brackets and couldn't see any way to adjust. I'm just asking because of the statement in the owners manual.

Yeah, you are SOL on an 09. Are you looking to lower or raise them?

I'd like to lower them a bit. On my '00 Fatboy, they are just a bit lower and much more comfortable.

Wish I could help with lowering them. You can move them either forward or out, but that will not lower them.

I probably will move them out but I can't move them forward. I installed the Lindby multibars and they are so close to the front of the footboards that I can't move them forward.
