I think coming out with a WW E3 would be counterproductive to Dunlop's bottom line. Most of the riders who must have WW's are running D402's, which wear out faster, so if Dunlop starts selling WW E3's many will switch. Longer tire mileage means fewer tires sold, and tooling up for WW would cost even more money. Also, if you'll look on the Dunlop site in their Fitment Guide there are no E3's that show up on the list of recommended tires, so I think they would prefer that we stay with the stock model so we'll be more frequent customers. Thus, I wouldn't hold my breath for WW's or replacements for the D407/D408. Just my 2˘.
The E3 was originally designed for GW's to address tire-wear complaints, and many riders were going to other brands over the stock Dunlops (forget the model). E3's have been getting rave reviews from the Wingnuts and now the HD crowd is joining the bandwagon. Since there are sizes that are very close to stock for '08 and earlier HD's, I can only assume that's to satisfy the needs of other brands that use the same size.

This spring I mounted an Elite 3 on the rear of my Electra Glide. As of today I have 9900 miles on it and it is not even 1/2 worn down. I am amazed. The D402's were about shot at this mileage. I had been getting about 11-12000 miles out of those but this Elite 3 will easily match that. The other thing is the rain grooves, the Elite 3 does not wiggle around like the D402 did. I am very happy with it.

I'm at 4/32" now (9.5/32" new) with 16k, and I'm thinking I'll get 20k out of this first E3 rear tire. I am also amazed, as I only got 10k each out of the two D402's run on this bike.
Are the E3's exactly the same size as the HD tires? will it affect ABS or the speedo? I like my range indicator....
.
The MU90-16 is .01" taller than the MU85 D402, so changing to this tire won't make a noticeable difference in the speedometer readout. In fact, it will make it marginally more accurate since newer speedos are generally about 4-5% fast and a taller tire will force a relatively lower speed to display, how much depending on the increase in diameter. I saw no change in the speedo's readout compared to my GPS after changing to the MU90 E3.

You have far too much faith in my ability to sway opinions at Dunlop corporate headquarters, even if they hadn't thought of these points before, which is doubtful.
