Default PCIII and throttle issues - help

I need some help or some direction to be pointed. I have a 2008 Electra Glide Classic that I put a PCIII, high flow air filter and slip ons. My problem I believe is related to the darn throttle by wire.

The problem is that the zero position throttle setting keeps changing by a couple hundred after a day or two. The idle might also creep up 50 RPM as well. When that happens the bike sounds fat, looses some power ( 6th gear roll on test, and idles rougher. The throttle % setting may still be 0 but the idle mixtures will creep up from 3-4 to 5-7. If the throttle % makes it up to 1 then things are really screwed up. So I reset one or both items. I'm a pro by now.

When things are perfect the bike is much quieter, runs a lot smoother and even the exhaust fumes smell right. Riding two up this makes a huge difference. I think by letting the bike idle creep up the 50-75 RPM and then setting the throttle position the bike runs much better for at least a week before needing reset.

I'm just plain sick and tired of resetting the zero throttle position every couple days even if bike idle stays good. To go on a trip I take a darn laptop so I can reset if needed!

To shut down the bike I stop, remove hand from throttle, let it idle at least ten seconds and turn off with the keyswitch. I let it warm up to normal idle every time before I start riding. This just plain sucks.

I've built and tuned many drag engines for cars so I know when things are working together and when they are not. Can someone please let me know what the next step could be?

The surrounding Harley dealers get glassy eyed when I tell them or even when I mention the TT380 bulletin. The other local bike shops that build Harleys say they don't mess with throttle by wire bikes.

I bought a package from a company on this site that everyone loves. They have responded to me and tried to be helpful but I need results instead of kindness. I have been dealing with this problem for a year now.

Help please!

Easier said than done to get them to fix it and/or get an attorney. Like I said the idle creeps up over time a little (50-75 rpm). I verify this by hooking up my lap top. I don't have the 1-2,000 RPM issues others have seen or even the sticking throttle.

I am just asking for the relationship between the PCIII and the throttle creep. Once the PCIII is set should it match up with the throttle no matter what crazy thing the throttle does?????

If it did then when I reset the throttle all would be well. That is not the case and nobody can tell me why, if this is what should happen??.....

I am just guessing the PCIII throtte set is related to the throttle issue the bike can display. I just see when one goes out the bike displays different (not terrible) running characteristics. Then I plug the lap top in and see the throttle set position, and fuel mixture off and know it is time to reset. Maybe I am totally wrong with the relationship.

Somebody with some knowledge on if I am on to something or just crazy please let me know. I want to know how I can set the PCIII to stay set regardless of what the bikes throttle position does.

Thanks.

Well, first off, it's not a warranty issue so forget the dealer. The first thing I would do is to call DynoJet and get their input. I've found them to be very helpful. If they can't get to the bottom of it, I would try to find a nearby DynoJet Tuning Center who sees lots of these bikes and get their input. I have had some minor quirky problems and these two sources have always come through. Good luck.

The 08 touring bikes dont have a seperate idle air contol. Instead it uses the (dbw) throtle plate as a idle air control. Which is non repairable only replaceable. What temperature are you setting the throttle position at?

Have you tried removing the PCIII, and see if the problem subsides?

If so, as least you could narrow it down to one or the other.

Have you changed the bars? I had a problem with RPM when I changed mine; it went away when I went back to the stock bars.

What is a TT380 bulletin?
