Only when I know that there is no chance of accident or possibly having to lay her down.
[sm=dontgetit.gif] Matt, tell me more about this sixth sense in knowing when there's no chance of an accident, seems like that would be if the bike stays in the garage!....just kidding...... I live in the most northwestern part of Wa state ,so shorts are definitely,..no way! Most everybody here wears full leathers year round. Only ones I see wearing sneakers are riding crotch rockets.(not surprising).
Even when I lived in south Texas, it was jeans, boots, helment. The omly skin I want to see on the pavement, is the cow's!
looks like 57% dont wear shorts, and only 17% wear the correct riding gear. well I ride with shorts cause thats what i wear to work sometimes. other than that i try my hardest to wear pants, it is more comfortable, with bugs and exhaust burns
Yes, but only with chaps over them. That way I'm not stuck wearing jeans when I get off the bike whereever I'm going and it's hotter than hell outside, but I'm still protected while I'm riding. I wore a t-shirt yesterday and burned my arms nicely on the 20 minute ride home from work. Not really thrilled with the prospect of the sun and/or pipes burning my legs.
Home in NY I always wear jeans, gloves, helmet, and leather jacket. I've been in Florida for a week, the gloves and jacket were the first to go. Today I took my new ultra for a spin w/o a helmet (broke the promise to my wife that i would always wear one) I loved riding w/o the head gear, its such a great feeling, 40 years ago a a kid I never wore a helmit (CA), and often rode my 750 Honda with sandles, shorts, tank-top and Ray bans.
The helmet goes back on tomorrow and I'll never wear shorts while riding.
A brother got me a Joe Rocket mesh jacket w/armor in club colors. Yeah, it's a crotch rocket rider's jacket, BUT..it's cooler than bare arms, and a whole lot safer!...as for shorts while riding anywhere...forget it!...and I also live in Houston.
Hell no. I did it a couple times in Hawaii on a rental. I stood up to brace the bike for my wife to get on and got a nice burn on my leg. That was enough of that. When I had to return the bike it was only a couple miles away and we were going to the beach after so I wore shorts t shirt sandles and no helmet. Felt like a naked idiot
