The last year I have replace 3 vertical brackets and the 2 radio brackets. I see they have changed the design of both brackets, until you get the new ones they should give you or only charge you cost for them. They know there is a problem again just looking to sell at a premium ( there price ) and make ****. I love my Harley but I hate that at times they just look the other way.
A good friend of mine was gonna take his 05 rocket III with 12000 miles into the dealer yesterday because of a high temp light coming on. When he went to start it, the battery was low and he had to jump it. He and I just thought he needed a new battery since he had rode it the day before and it just wasn't taking a charge. Well, he found out the stator was bad and to get to it, the dealer had to pull the friggin motor. Cost estimate with parts, $1500.
The dealer called triumph to see if they would help out with the cost and they said no dice. That doesn't take into account the hot temp problem either.

Galvanized angle bracket from Home Depot is all you need to fix it for good. I did mine this weekend, took about 10 minutes. No need to change the stock brackets.

Find iclick's post on it to make it easier.
They will break also mine have twice already but it sure is alot easier to replace the angle bracket than the whole bracket.
made my own brakets to correct this problem on my bike. ironically my brakets are very similar to the the kit pictured on the above thread. mine are about 1/8" thick and are through bolted with a short 1/4-20 bolt with a nylock nut, not riveted. best i can tell HD factory bracket cracks at the 90% bend because the steel is too thin. so far so good with my repair.
