Default question about a tourpack

Hi guys I hope you can answer a question about the differance between a 06 and 09 tour pack . I bought one on ebay and I seem to have holes on the bottom that don't line up with my detachable mount. My ride is an 06 fhltpi. I realise that I will have to lift the tour pack with bushings so the saddle bag lids will operate.

If everything else works and fits, use a drill press and make your own holes in the detach bracket.

The tourpaks for 06 and 09 are basically the same. If you bought a used one, the holes probably don't line up because it had a different mount. (Permanent vs Detachable or visa versa) Or maybe the previous owner just rigged it up to fit on a different rack. The basic tourpak is the same, and you'll probably have to adapt for you mounting rack, and fill the other holes. Hope this helps.

The '06 detachable rack will have a U-shaped chrome tube. Use it to mark the five holes you will need to drill in the tour pak.

The question is where, exactly, should you locate the holes. Suggetion: take a look at the relationship to the back of the U-tube and the back edge of the tour pak on an '08 or older bike with the tour pak mounted. That distance from the back of the U-tube to the back edge of the tour pak should give you a good reference point.

You will be drilling through the plastic of the tour pak and the metal base bolted inside. Not difficult to do (I did mine recently to use the Milwaukee Bagger two-up detachable rack that uses the HD mounting hardware for the passenger backrest/solo detachable rack).

Good luck with your project.
