Sounds like the dealer told you they'd have it fixed locally to you with good intentions. He's now found out it's not a warranty issue that can not be done like that. He made a mistake with good intentions and then found out it was bigger than he originally thought, haven't you ever done the similar? I know I have.
Had a similar experience on my rear fender. When I got home my wife noticed a paint defect. I called my dealer, they said come in whenever you got time to see it. I came in a week later, they ordered up a new fender and about 3-4 weeks later it came in and they swapped it out. Did their 1000 mile service at the same time. Was not a big deal and did not lose any sleep over it.
I dont have a problem with it getting fixed at my local dealer or even by myself .
Just dont want to travel over 650 miles to have it done on me ,,
I f dealer wants to pick up the tab it wont be a problem to travel , but why should I pay out of pocket when they told me to go to ANY HD authorized dealer to fix .
Believe me if I would have known what I going threw now I would have made him change out the part with another bike on the showroom floor or took back my money and walked away .
I,m still given him till Tues. to call back with a solution ...
Not trying to sound like or be a jerk its just a promise is a promise.
Its like me going there sighning all the papers loading the bike and giving the dealer a check for $ 500. less ..
What would he say .. HELL NO ,,, Exactly ///
I get wound up bad like you do. SCREAM into the phone and all of that.
I, at like 50, started working on that (I'm 53 now), because you know what? Does it REALLY matter?
Who gives a crap if the guy was a dumbass and misspoke and cannot fulfill his promise? Don't even bother to call the guy back, or if you do, have them send you some chrome doo dad off of the wall, and make it all easier on yourself. NONE of this matters... his being a 'liar' or whatever. I wouldn't ride it up. I wouldn't even call. To heck with it...
Dude... you ARE going to drop the bike shortly anyway.
I just let 'them' hose me anymore and move on... life is really too short. Go take a nice 1 hour ride, and after 45 minutes, ask yourself if you really truly care about this... The bike will work its will on you! HAHA
(I'm NOT 100% cured of this yet... I still get smoking mad at times... but I TRY to catch myself nowadays).
your worse then a women whining...like mentioned have it shipped it is easy to replace. or get your whining azz over there and have them replace it. boo hoo worse case scenario you pay a local dealer 1 hour labor to replace it.
I agree 100%. Quit bitching and just take care of it. They are not trying to get out of the warranty work. People that constantly bitch about H-D should buy something else.
I can't wait till you get the first ding in the chrome or chip on the fairing. It will never be as perfect as when it's sitting in the showroom, especially if you ride a lot. Unleash the beast and get it off the trailer and out of the garage!
