Heck ya....The first thing I do right after I hand over a $23,000 check to the dealer is walk out and kick that frigin bike over on it's right side then I pick it up and let her fall on her left. Who gives a rats a$$ what it looks like or how the dealer walks all over you with lies.
Good Luck
After all that, you can ride the **** out of it without a worry in the world.
Apparently not everyones read my problem and understanding that it WAS the closest dealer to me .
I live in Northern NY located kiddy corner to CANADA and Vermont ..
Its been in the 30,s already this year ..
Yes I no there are you all big and burly hard core riders that say no problem just take it on a 650 mile trip , chill and enjoy the ride .
Its getting vold here I,m not in the Southern parts ,
Not getting to wound up over the sacastic comments , I guess my point of view is .
Stealer as most call them now realized he screwed up by telling me it could be fixed by any authorized dealer and he now is re****ing on it ..
And to you dont care abought little dents or scratches guys who bought your bike new .
I dont believe for 1 minute you never looked over your new $20,000 plus bike before signing off on the paperwork .
So if your telling me not to worry abought it why did you ???.
One last note , I believe the bike was sratched after I looked at it while it was in the service shop .
So from the time the tech. finished his inpection and the time the manager drove it from the shop to my trailer it happend ..
So go ahead and say I,m an *** for not staying with the bike the hole time I was there ..
Going to give them a call on Tuesday ...
Read your entire whine & the responses in the thread. Since you (to your credit) aren't namin' the dealer or tryin' to get anyone to boycott him, what's your point?
You've got a three page thread goin' 'cause you got two little scratches you have to remove the bags to find. What are you expectin' from the people here? Most of us wouldn't give it a second thought let alone stomp our feet & whine on the internet. When you reach your attention requirements post something worthwhile.
First off you need to have your wife give you an extra Prozac!! Now, this is not the end of the world. The dealer may or may not have been dishonest with you about getting this fixed anywhere. Let's give him the benifit of the doubt. He might have screwed up. He knows it. But, trying to give him an ultimatum and a Tuesday deadline ? I'm sure he won't cave to any threats. Will probably make things worse. You saved a bunch buying from a far away dealer and having some problems with the bike is one of the pitfalls of this. You don't want to ride back or spend your money trailering the bike back and expect him to cover your expenses. Things happen in life. Work it out, it's not the end of the world. Life is too short, and there are people with much worse to worry about. We all love our bikes and get upset over problems with dealers, etc., but in the end, it works out. Take care and think this out, it will be OK. Good Luck to you.
Probaly shoudnt be typing right now ,
I,m still pi$$ed off.........
I,m pretty pi$$ed to say the least .
I can understand how this could be a very annoying situation.
I can't imagine driving that far to buy a bike unless you live in the middle of the desert, there isn't a dealer closer or you just hate your local dealer. All those miles traveled aren't free.
If you get this pi$$ed off at small scratches I'm guessing there may be other daily events that elicit this same type of reponse.
Every incident shortens your life. Have I ever had this reaction. Of course
They offered to take care of it.... just work with them a little. Life is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too short to get this excited over a scratch you couldn't even see on the showroom. Take a chill, and it'll all work out for ya. I'd say the ride back is a nice opportunity for a ROAD TRIP! You need all of those you can get. Count it as an opportunity to help break that new pig in.... Relax..
I bought a 09 Ultra a few weeks ago, noticed a black spec on the right saddle bag lid, not a scratch or nick it's under the clear. I really don't care about that, it will pick up a few more scratches with miles, got to expect that. There's more important things to be concerned about with your new bike than a couple of small scratches. Get on it and start riding, or your going to let this thing cause you to give up on biking all together. If everything else about the bike is good then count yourself lucky, there's other with grimlens all over their bikes and can't shake them off.
Scratches, rock chips and bug juice give a real Harley character ! Just ride the darn thing. And as posted earlier.....drop it on both sides...pick it up...and ride.....you'll feel much better in a few minutes.
