I am having a problem keeping a 10.5 inch LongRide shield tight. After several miles it can be rocked back and forth and even lifted up and down.
The screws are tight and it is properly seated between the front and inner fairings. There is no problem with the inserts.
When I swap it for the stock windshield there are no problems, tight as can be!!!
It appears to be the same thickness as the OEM shield but it acts as though that is the issue. It's as though even though the screws are tight and the 2 fairings are squeezed as tight as they can go it is not capturing the glass tight enough thus the wobble.
Matt at Longride responded to my concern immediately and had me send it back. He was at a loss as to what the problem could be. He will be sending out a new one to see if it makes any difference.
I would double check the inserts, Mine had pulled out a little and my windshield seemed to be loose although the screws were tight. It ended up being one of the inserts. I pushed it back in and it would pull out after a couple hundred miles. I ended up pulling the insert out and using some jb weld in the hole and putting the insert back in. That was 2 years and 20k miles and it hasn't came loose since. You could also cut a bike innertube and make a liner around your windshield if your inserts haven't moved.
If it's not the inserts for sure you might want to try a piece of foam tape or rubber tape acrossed where it will make contact with the fairing. Some aftermarket shields come with it just in case.
