I'd like to know specifically what, if any, reasons there are to not make a purchase of an '07 Street Glide. The guys I ride with refered me to this forum mentioning something about helical cut gearing and said that the '09 models are much better. Are there simple modifications to overcome the problems with the '07 Street Glide problems?
i just got my 07 SG end of August, love it! Put about 2500 miles on it so far no problems. I don't notice any gear whine and it doesn't have IDS. Hardest part is getting a windshield the suits you. No regrets buying mine, Good Luck
There is nothing wrong with an '07.......... and to show you how smart your friends are, the new gears are on the 2010 not the '09s. The different noise the gears make never bother me. I don't know what all the hype is.
The 09's are better because of the new frame design and fat rear tire. Maybe that's what they mean.
Threre are no problems with the 07. The gear issue issue is not a reason to NOT buy a bike. Every year is better so if you have a great deal on line go for it.
If the gearing is noisy it can be quieted down with gear lube. But other than that a 07 SG is a great bike to have and own, I don't have any regrets about mine.
Like someone else posted, if you have a good deal going jump on it!
bought mine in july 07. luv it...still have it...with 12K miles on it...zero problems. plan to keep it a long time. i have never understood the whoo-haa over the gear-sound in 5th...non-issue in my opinion...definitely not something on which to make a "go" or "no-go" decision
Took me two years and 13,000 miles to even notice the whine everyone talks about...no issue to me..
