Slick bike! I really love the RK Custom, if I could've got one, I would've. In fact, I plan to basically turn my RK into a RK Custom eventually...

Few easy questions about the handlebars on this bike.

My pop bought this bike while he was still recovering from bypass surgery. He's just now starting to take longer rides (away from his street) on the bike and is not comfortable with the stock bars.

Something he may get comfortable with, but I'd like to see if we can adjust the bars up for him a bit to see if that helps. Or we may like to change the bars.

Q:
How do you get to the risers? How do you remove the clamp cover?

If we need to change 'em, will stock Heritage bars work on this bike? I have the stock bars off my '07 Heritage.

Thanks

The Road King Custom was the predecessor to the Street Glide. It sat lower than the other Harley touring bikes, and in 2006 Harley used the FLHRS and changed the fuel tank, and the dash, added a fairing, and called it a Street Glide. In 2006 and 2007 the Custom was still outselling the Street Glide so Harley stopped production of the Custom to boost sales of the Street Glide. The bikes are identical in suspension and all frame related items, also in drivetrain. The exception is in the fuel tank and dash and fairing. The final year of production, 2007, was the rarest, in that it was the year Harley introduced the 96 inch engine and the 6 speed transmission into the touring lineup.

To the OP. Yes heritage type bars work great. No changing any cables. To get to the riser clamp, pop out the form lock cover, remove two small screws, take out headlight, loosed two nuts holding nacelle spear, remove screw holding back of fork spear to riser cover, remove riser cover.
