Default RE: roadking question

Coming back at SEAN and 81Forever. If you guys think you can simply add a pair of dual drag pipes to an EFI Twincam, not touch anything else, and expect it to perform well, you gotta be on planet metric. Time to wake up, try it for yourself.......then add an air kit, PCIII/dyno tune and see if ya notice a dramatic difference. Let me know how ya make out, I'll be around!

I have the proof on my dyno sheet that having the PCIII and dyno tune is WAY better than just pipes and no tune. I installed Rush mufflers, Samson true duals, and the Ness Big Sucker, then rode to the nearest dealer with a dyno and a good tech. After the baseline run, the A/F ratio line (which should be straight as an arrow on the chart, mixture up and down on the left and RPM left and right on the top) was all over the place, and off the grid at some points. Started with 58HP and 60ftlb. After 3 hours and many runs later, the A/F line was straight all the way up the range and ended with 76HP and almost 80ftlb of torque. If I had a scanner, I'd print a copy to show you what you'd do to your bike without tuning. The download that HD does stinks as it isn't made specifically for your bike with your pipes and your intake. Every motor is different and every add on to that motor is different. A general map doesn't do the trick. The best and safest thing to do is get your pipes and intake, install the PCIII, and get it dyno tuned. Hands down the best investment I made on my bike since I've had it. Runs smooth as a baby's butt, no popping, jerking, or backfiring since the tune.

Excellent post Billyboy, now that's what I'm talkin' about. Once you get it, then you GET IT, all in the tune baby, ALL in the tune![sm=deal.gif]

Bounty Hunter and Billy Boy, turns out your were both absolutely correct. I put a set of vance and hines big shots (true duals) SE hi flow air kit at the local hd shop, put the bike on a trailer and took it to a performance shop who specialize in Power Commander and are tech certified. They put the power commander on and gave me a custom map and dyno tuned the bike and it is truely a work of art. Purrs like a kitten and runs like a demon possesed. Raised the horsepower from 56 to 70 and pushed the torque to 80 foot lbs. Your were right all along. Thanks
