planning to get into mine this weekend... i got my bars, painted inner, poly bushings, SE TBW harness... bike is up on the jack...

QUESTION.... am i gonna be able to reuse my grips? any tips on removal
and re-install?


p.s. i'm doing 10s......i'm only 5'6" i think these should be juuuuuust right.

Stock grips? Most would say no. Mine came off without ruining them though. Give it a shot, you might get lucky. I'd go ahead and pick some nice looking grips for those nice looking bars. Return'em if you save the stock ones and want to reuse them.

my grips arent' stock..i had them changed when i bought my bike.....thats why i'm trying to save them

if i was still running those cheap stock things i woulnd;t be bothering to try to save them....

I use these and like them. No reason to save the stock grips.

Oh, OK. Well, in that case the answer would be yes. The grips are held on by your switch housings. When you open up the switch housing they may slid off all by themselves. Some designs (mine included) have tiny set screws so you can screw the left into the bar to keep them from twisting. In which case small dimples were drilled into the bars, to accept those screws, and you'll want to drill small dimples into the new bars. I suppose it is possible that the dealer glued the left grip on but I doubt it , and I would be reeeeeally pissed at the dealer if I found out they had.
