111,000 Harley's RECALLED?
More than 111,000 Harley-Davidson touring bikes recalled

Nearly 111,600 2010 Harley-Davidson touring models are expected to be recalled around Dec. 14, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The bikes are being recalled because the front fuel tank mounts may distort if the bike's frame is damaged in a frontal collision, causing the fuel tank to leak at a weld on a bracket. The leak could result in a fire that could injure the rider, reported the NHTSA.
The bikes were manufactured June 6, 2008-Nov. 19. Affected are the 2009-2010 models of the FLHP, FLHPE, FLHR, FLHTP, FLHR SHRINE, FLHRC, FLHT, FLHTC, FLHTCU, FLHTCU SHRINE, FLHTCU W/SC, and the 2009 models of the FLTR, FLTR3-CVO, FLTRSE3, FLHTCU4-CVO, FLHTCUSE4, FLHTCUSE5, FLHTCUTG, FLHTK. Also recalled are the 2009-2011 FLHX and the 2010 model of the FLHXXX.
Remedy: Dealers will install a left and right brace, which is intended to reduce front mount distortion during certain crash conditions. This repair will be performed free of charge. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson at 414-343-4056 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236

Step 1) I printed out the PDF file Dawg posted and took it to my dealer,
Step 2) My Service manager said it could only be fixed if the owner complained and asked for it to be fixed.
Step 3) So I said "I am asking for it ot be fixed".
Step 4) Now we will wait for my dealer to order the parts
Step 5) and for Harley to make the parts
Step 6) and for Harley to ship the parts tp my dealer
Step 7) and wait for my dealer to contact me that they have the parts
Step 8) and then wait for the dealer to set a date to fix the problem.
Step 9) and then for my dealer to actually get my bike in and fix the porblem.
Thank gawd it's the slow time of the riding season.

My dealer had the recall parts last week and mine and a buddy's bike have already had the "Fix it" parts installed. No hassels no waiting no BS from the dealer what so ever.
I do not understand any dealers reluctance to do this, they get paid to make the repairs and even if they did not, it's part of owning a dealership.
Good luck to all of you.

Dealer called Saturday and ask if I had heard about the recall (of course I had here and printed out the paperwork on it) and if I wanted it done, he said no problem, part is being ordered now and will call when it comes in. He did say that they had a few come in but not enough, hence calling to see how many more he needed. I'll give them this, they called and asked before I received anything from the MoCo..............

The steelerships don't get their full hourly rate from the MOCO. They have to suffice on what they are willing to, or just what they say they'll pay for a given warranty repair. No matter what amount of time it takes to facilitate the repair. Sometimes it's reasonably fair, but usually not.
