I paid $1400 for the seven year/unlimited mileage warranty on a 2010 FLTRX last summer.

I've been going back an forth on whether to renew.I was at North Texas HD today to get a part and figured I'd sit down and haggle prices for the heck of it.

He pulled out a price sheet for Used bikes for me to look over.It was in line with some of the higher prices that have been shown here.

1 yr 774
2 yr 1,019
3 yr 1.119
4 yr 1,490
5 yr 1,896
T&W not included in these prices.

I ask what price he could give me.....he just pointed at the price list.
I let him know that I knew he could do better than msrp.

"They won't let me sell them for less."

I told him they were too high and if he changes his mind to let me know.Otherwise, forget it.

This is a Big dealership and I was about the only one there on a beautiful sunny day.
Makes me wonder about the health of their business.
OK - a year ago you posted the above information... SO, what did you do??? I also have an 04 that has the ext warr and its due to run out next week and I got a post card selling me the idea of doing another extension of my extended warr - SAME prices were quoted to me this afternoon as you got this time last year. I started a post asking if ANYONE has found better prices for the used bikes and someone told me about this post,, Yes, I know its a year old, just asking for infomation, IF you have any...

Thanks,,,

BTW - got my cam chain ten changed out with my warranty and a few other minor issues so, it paid for its self over the past 7 years.. plan to keep the bike for maybe another 3 years..

I decided to pass on it and I'm glad I did.

In Feb. 09 this same dealership installed a 95" BB w/Andrew's Cams. They also replaced the cam tensioners at the same time with all the bearing,etc..

Nothing they did at that time was covered by warranty.

Last year they, before the warranty expired, told me that cam tensioners would not be covered under warranty in the future either. Then told me they would "work with me" should the BB kit have a problem. It wasn't suppose to be covered either but they "would try".

Then no dealing on the price of renewing the warranty.

I had been having all my service work done with them,H-D of North Texas.

This was enough for me not to renew the extended warranty and no longer have them service my scoot either. Their decisions ended up costing them and not me.

I have been doing all the work on it the last year and haven't had 1 minute of trouble. I've learned a lot about it and have enjoyed doing the work myself.

I still agree with my decision a year later and have saved more than enough to cover anything they might (maybe) have fixed under their warranty.

Had I had the same attitude as you got - I would pass also - so far my experence has been 100% in the other direction. My bike is all stock with the exception of Rhine Harts and stage one a/c. Both have NOT been a problem with warranty. The cam chain tens was replace under warranty therefor is still covered - Tire was replace under warr and motel was all paid for - will NOT get the tire and wheel IF I decide to extend the warr. Still on the fence. The bike is 7 years old and runs like a top.. In fact getting ready for another www.rftw.org ride this May - which will add about 7,000 to the bike. I may keep it for another three years. Really no reason to sell it and start over.

Thanks for all the info guys...I have been following these threads for awhile now and now it's come down to the wire...3 weeks left to get the best priced ESP.

FYI..I live in Florida, and NO dealer in this state can negotiate the prices of the ESP, it's against the law...I love my local dealers, but, sorry guys...I'll need to shop this around the Country..lol

So far I've been quoted $1049 from a dealer in Chicago for the 5 year w/o Tire and Wheel....

I have 4 more calls/emails to make with every dealer listed in this thread...i'l llet you guys know what I get..
