Default Winter Speaker Project

Looking to step up the sounds on my 08 street glide...

i know there are tons of post and have done lots of reading but looking for info from people that already have done this upgrade...

Here is what i am looking to do:

would like to Upgrade stock speakers, add a few tweeters, 8" subwoofer in saddle bag and a amp if needed not only for the woofer but also speakers in fairing..

any and all suggestions would help thanks.

Need to know what speakers for fairing, what amp would work, and subwoofer that would fit...

Do you want to hear it going down the road? Or just showing off in the parking lot?

If you want to hear it going down the road, you will have to change the speakers in the fairing and add an amp for the fairing speakers.

The sub-woofer in the saddlebag will only do you good showing off in the parking lot.

My wife and I tour a lot and sound is important to me when riding. For what it is worth:

I personally think a subwoofer is a waste of money, effort, and time. They are worthless when riding in the most part. Show bikes and bar hopping they are a +.

There are several ways to improve the sound and add volume.
Many seem to really like the new J&M 7.24 inch speakers without an amp.
Firecap will help you out and is a stand up guy. A lot of folks are using his systems and are very happy with the results.

The only reason I did not use 1 of his systems is I buy American when I can.
I went with the www.biketronics.com 180 watt system with 6.5 inch titan speakers.
I am sure there are better systems out there but I do like the performance with what I have.

just a thought

Check this out if you want to hear one going down the road and parking lot thump:
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ce-stereo.html

Check out what I did and ended up with a Biketronics 360 watt setup here.
It will turn heads in parking lots too if that's what you want:

When after you get an oil change and the mechanic comes out of the back to ask what you did to the stereo, that means you did something major....and I just have two speakers in the fairing.

....... pulling into a parking lot & driving past the neighbors houses to get home is when I use the speaker switch to shut the stereo down.
..... the SE pipes are enough to let'm know I'm around
....... the stereo's just there to keep me company whilst out on the road.

All depends how crazy you want to go. I've got the Hawg Wired 150 Watt setup and going to add their dash tweeters and while NOT cheap, this system flat out kicks ***. Dunno bout a sub though.
