The heritage will be gone monday and I hope to be making a deposit on a road glide the same day. My dealer says $1000 deposit to locate and go get the one I want cause all they got is red. I need help with a few decisions. I can't decide between the deniem black and the vivid black. Is there any kind of speical up keep on the deniem paint? Since you can't wax it how do you protect it from the elements? I also can't decide if I need cruise or not, I have never had it on a bike. Is it worth it? Please chime in with any ideas you may have thanks
The owner's manual will have care instructions for the denim paint. I have always liked flat black on a bike but I just don't think it will stand up against the elements and wear and tear over time. I have yet to see a denim paint job look as good after a couple years as it did new.
I was really not sold on any of the denim paints until I found the SB. Way less maintenance. It really doesn't attract dust. Windex and a California Duster is all you really need. It does have a matte clear on it, but it's not that thick. It's not like polishing a scratch out like a clear coat. You have to take a little extra care with it that way.
If you ever plan on giving it a custom paint job or graphics, your better off with the Vivid black. Cheaper.
Get the cruise. It's not a throttle lock like the Heritage. It'll adjust just like the cruise in a car. It's nice to have when the temps fall on a road trip. Better to have it and not use it, rather than putting on later when you want it.
The first thing you'll have to get use to is the difference of how the bike feels at idle with the "A" motor vs. the balanced "B" of the Heritage.
i dont mind the vibration of the A motor at idle, I kinda like it I'm serioulsy considering the denim, I love the looks I just wasen't sure of the up keep.
I think you'll be very happy with your choice. As far as the cruise goes, I thought I'd never use it, but once I got use to it I love it. Exhaust wise I have rush slip-on's with 2" baffles but going with V&H Big Shot duals next month.
Get the cruise, you will love it. Rush pipes with 2"baffles and I am happy. Not a fan of denim paint, but its your bike, get what you like. You will love the Roadie
