Anybody else have a Ultra with a stereo that the display wont work on it? Everything else works on the stereo, but no display only a backlight. The Dealer said they could replace it for me for $300. dollars. Can anything be done to fix it other than spending 300.00 on a refurb srereo???? Ideas please if ya got any.
I've heard about them too. probably will go thru them . Gotta be an easy fix somehow . Like a diode or something an electronic whiz can fix for pennies.
This might not be your problem but it wouldn't hurt to try. When I had my 2006, I accidently faded the backlight to nothing, (don't ask me how I did it) when you do this, there is no display. If you go to your owners manual it will tell you in detail how to darken or brighten your backlight in the radio section.
Hope this helps. Jonnierock
I've had 2 radios replaced under warranty due to the lighting going out.
If I had no warranty I would have Iron Cross fix it or buy another brand that is plug and play.
I dont think the company(United Radio) that refurbs the HK radios for HD go to any length to upgrade the units.

I just had the same issue on my 06 RG. It just up and quit with no warning at all. Apparantly it's a poor coating on the display that lets moisture in and causes that to happen. I sent mine to iron cross and had them do the full meal deal with all the new updates and fixes. Works like a charm now and has a few nicer features from the software update that the 06 radios never had before. Mine works great since having it back but it only went back in the bike a couple months ago and it's been winter here so I have not had it on the road yet. Fingers crossed soon!
