2004 Road Glide
Buddy & I did a few mods to it a couple weeks ago that required removing the ignition switch.
Took it out, noticed there was NO spring under the switch.
Buddy is a OTR trucker.
He asked me to order the spring and run by his house and install it when it came in.
I did that today.
I didn't look at his Service Manual as I've removed/installed these switches dozens of times.
When I installed it, it seemed a little snug pushing down, but it went.
I then turned the switch to ON...no probs there.
I tried to turn it to ACC...wouldn't go.
I tried to turn it to LOCK...wouldn't go.
I open his Service Manual and read up on the Removal/Installation of his switch.
UH OH!
Only the International models get that spring for his year model.
The "stem" that goes in the "tumblers" on his switch looked shorter than what I remembered pulling newer switches out.
The "tumblers" are in line.
I can't get the switch to go to LOCK to remove this spring.
You can try to put the key in the switch and with a real small stright blade screwdriver try to find and push the release pin underneath while turning the key to the left. It should pop up.

I tried that for a couple minutes, didn't really put much effort into it though.
I was freaking..."oh ****...wtfffff"
I'll try this with more patience in a couple days.
We're getting snowed in so I won't be able to get back over there at least until Sunday.
If this video is about that normal removal, I have no probs with that.
The switch is stuck due the the spring that was installed and isn't supposed to be there.
This is the problem.
I need to get the switch back out to remove the spring.
The switch won't go beyond IGNITION position.
It won't go to the ACC side...it won't go to the LOCK side.
Apparently the spring wasn't part of the Ignition Switch for the 2004-Domestic models...ONLY Internationals.
Piggy, don't worry it will come out I did the same thing when a friend said you should have a spring...if patience don't work you just need a bigger hammer
