Greg,
a 3.5MM male to male connection is required. Most radios have an aux input now for just that purpose. Be sure to get a decent quality one as the really cheap ones can cause buzzing or a lousy signal..They are easily available at most stores, Radio Shack, Wal Mart ,Target,Best Buy etc.
As far as connecting to the factory radio. You can go to radio shack and get a male ended cable for a few bucks. Just plug one end where you plug ear buds into and the other in the aux hole on your radio
I couldn't decide on where to put the MP3 Player. There's lots of mounts available, but I didn't like the looks of them. I got one of those flash drive looking ones. It's about the width of a highlighter pen. I velcroed it to the CD door and use a retractable 3.5mm cable you can get anywhere. I think I got mine at Best Buy or Radio Shack.
I put a piece of velcro on the back of the IPOD and another on the fairing cap under the acc switch, cost less than a dollar. Then got a 1ft male to male 3.5mm connector from best buy plugged it in, put radio on aux and it was done in less than 5 min.
