widest/best ride tire combo with 18x3.5 rear wheel
Hey guys, what is the widest or best overall size tire I should go with? I am going to get a set of Metzlers and wanted to go a little wider than stock.
Check out the Pirelli Night Dragons. I've run Metzlers and Avons for years. Just put on a new set of Night Dragons and VERY happy with them after over 1k miles. I put a 150 on the rear.
Check out the Dunlop Ellite 3. Put them on my 08 Ultra last year, what a difference in ride and handling. No difference with clearance on the rear with the 160/80B16 and MT90B16 on the front. Rear tire is same as used on 1500 Goldwing and you get increased load capacity. I have no more following cracks, groves, steel grating and tar snakes like I did with original tires and feels better in the curves.

How would running a 150/70-18 relate to my front wheel which would be 21x3.5 rim with 120/70-21?
Could I run a wider rear tire than a 150 and not have any clearance issues?

I'm sorry If I have affended you! You rquestion was: widest/best ride tire combo with 18x3.5 rear wheel
You never mentioned your front wheel. I just gave you what I have on my bike for reference. the 150 is the widest I was able to put on without clearance issues. Unless I missed something, which could happen
Ha ha not offended! I meant: If I ran a 150/70-18 rear tire, how would it relate to a 21x3.5 front rim with a 120/70-21 tire? I just want the bike to sit fairly level with the combination I pick. I have heard of people running a wider rear tire, but didnt know if there were any issues associated.

Even If you go with a low profile front tire you are talking about a 2-4" difference at the most. I don't think it will be an issue for you. If it does turn out to be an issue! No big deal just lower the front by the amount you want to level it.
2" would be more than enough IMHO
