Go for the 06, better flowing heads. 05 had valve seal problems. I had an 04 and it was a good bike. But, go for the 06.

Usually with a Harley, I find the later the year model, the better the bike!............ All other things being equal!

Agree with looking for an 06, my riding bud has one and wouldn't part with it for a brand new one ..

the difference in price between a 04 and 06 might be enough to get your heads to really flow by porting and polishing. they are all real close no major improvements JMO

More than likely any good used bike will already have Stage 1 .. My 08 had it as soon as did the Free 1K Service .. Actually was 550 miles when did the service .. at 1K Miles did Stage 1, PCIII Tuner and Dyno .. Might find a few that are totally stock but doubt that many..

well sounds like you really wouldn't notice the difference between a 04/06 at least ya know to shy away from a 05. wish ya best of luck in your search, best to hurry up before spring prices go on the rise.

I am going to be the odd guy out here. I would go with an 04-05. While in 06 they put better heads on the bikes they also used weaker cranks. If you ever looked at the two side by side you can plainly see what I am talking about. When I had to replace my 04 I went with an 03 Carb model. I wouldn't discount 03s or 02s The 02 models have the timkin bearing bottom end and is even more stout then the rest. 02 is also the first year of the Delphi fuel injection and the stronger swing arm.
