on my last bike took em off cause the wife didnt like the bars hittin her in the calf good thing the leather look bags had some give in em. after that the bars went right back on.with hard bags wouldnt even think about takin them off,if your lucky it will only be new paint,if not new bag and paint.
Once I took mine off I ordered four more of the front slanted pieces from the dealer. I then cut the factory bolt down, put one on the front then one on the back finished b a chrome acorn nut to hold together! Pics to follow.
I did the same with mine, but used the original pieces, with a shorter bolt in case I wanted to put them back on. It's amazing what you can sometimes do with acorn nuts to clean things up. Probably the cheapest way to deal with the holes and looks pretty good too.
