06 RK Custom, SE slipons and air cleaner, with a PCIII. The bike ran reasonably well, with the occasional intake hiccup, and surging on decel. My fuel milage sucked however (around 31-33mpg)
My dealer changed out the injectors simply for asking for them. Nice of them!
But now, the performance seems lower. Acceleration seems 'softer' and the bike sounds quiter through the whole RPM range.
What could cause worse performance out of these injectors?
Sounds like you never have had the correct map, there is not an exact map from dynojet for your set up, I know because I went thru this with them, they have a user submitted map, but none of them will download and dynojet said no telling when or if they would have it working again, I pulled the PCIII and got the dealer download and my bike runs better than the PCIII ever did. It pulls hard and runs great with no pop on decell and the cost was 189.00,parts and labor, if you are happy with your current set up this is a good solution to your problem, if you plan on trying different upgrades the PCIII is the way to go.
Did the dealer remap the ECM for the 25's? With or without, with the PCIII, you are going to have to load the correct map for your new combo. I had a 2 mile increase in mileage with the 25's and noticed much smoother performance in the off-idle through low RPM range. Really didn't see much difference in the higher RPM range. My bike coughed everytime a did a warm start waiting for the fuel prime/eng light to extinguish. The only way I could prevent the cough was to hit the starter as soon as I hit run. Now, I can let the thing prime and wait for the eng light to extinguish and it starts flawlessly every time.
IF it was tuned properly in the first place, the injector swap would NOT have been required. Ya got a PCIII, get it TUNED by a pro! I run with 8's (no issues), getting great performance/fuel mileage, 44+.[:@]Never had the bike go into heat management.

My experience also. Get it tuned by a pro. Not necessarrily at a stealership; there are plenty of Indies out their who really WANT to keep the customer happy.
You'll find better service at the INDY shops as a rule. As Tripper said, the indepentent shops seem to go the extra step to make the customer happy.
While my bike ran okay with the factory download (25 degree injectors/95"/203's) after a dynotune with the PCIII there is no comparision.
And having the bike tuned correctly will have no bearing on the bike going into heat management
