Angry Cruise control problem

Before I jump into it I thought I'd ask your advice. I've got a 2006 Electraglide Standard with the HD Cruise Control that has been working just fine for about 60,000 miles. Yesterday after slowing for traffic I hit the resume switch and it took off way past where I had been running it. Tapping the brake wouldn't shut it off so I had to turn it off at the main switch. Tried it again a few minutes later and it seemed to be ok right up to the point where it wicked full on again. I've got the Maint manual and parts manual but not the electrical manual.
Recommendations?

I had a kink on the cruise cable just as it went inside the cable housing and would hang up and sometimes accelerate hard. Changed the cable which was very easy and all is well again. Mine would always shut down with a brake activation.

I would look for a loose connector or a wire that has rubbed thru and grounded.

It does not hurt to take a look at the cable and also lube it.

search the curse control threads. there will be one for finding out any and all error codes relating to the CC. that will tell you if it is the CC or not. if there is no error, you can check your connectors and then throttle. if nothing pans out, you make have to take it to the dealership.

Check your fuses. I had a fuse blow (I don't recall which fuse) and the CC would not turn off by hitting the brake. I had to use the switch to dis-engage the cruise.
