just had my 1k service done last week, love it. Only issue I have is the smell from the CAT after long or hard rides... but my wife says the same thing about me... LOL!!!
Picked the 2010 Ultra up 3/26/2010. Weather has not been that great, so I have 376 miles on her. Bike runs fine so far. Like the quite 5th gear, read no whine, and the new frrame and tires make it handle better than my 08. I think he will like the 2010.

I was installing a adjustable backrest and I noticed that a plug was not plugged in near the ecm, not sure if it came loose or it was never plugged in. its the one just in front of the ecm red male plug.
IIRC, that's called the B+ connector, it doesn't plug into anything. When I asked a tech friend that works in Milwaukee he said it was hot and unswitched and could be used for heated gear. I don't know about that or what it was actually designed for.
I had a compensator sprocket replaced at the 1k that was making some noise, replaced under warranty and I paid the difference to upgrade to the SE comp.
In the last 11 years I've had a '96 RK, Y2K, '05, '07 & this '10 Ultra. This is by far the smoothest, best designed H-D I've owned. While initially concerned about a performance drop from the catalytic converter I've found it actually runs better than the stock '09s I've ridden. My thoughts are that the cat took care of emissions and H-D was able to come up with improved A/F matrixes. For the first time on a stock fuelie the plugs look the way they ought to. Yeah, there's still some things that make you ask "what the hell were they thinking" like the usual inaccurate fuel gauge, a crappy seat and that stupid spring clip under the headlight trim ring that nobody can get back on. And why all of a sudden after decades is it OK to get bugs and rain inside the headlight? No gasket anymore. But all in all I think this one is the keeper.

I've got about 800 miles on my 2010 FLHTK Limited. Shortly after delivery, I discovered the tour pak lock and left saddlebag lock were inoperative--replaced and rekeyed as original. Other than that minor issue, the bike has been perfect--enjoying it very much. There is that heat from the cats in the headpipes that may not be acceptable in the summer heat. My plans are to eliminate that as an issue with sans cats headpipes upon expiration of the original warrantly.
According to American Rider Magazine, the excess heat caused by the cat on the 2-into-1 exhaust on the Road Glide and Street Glide can cause a brown discoloration about half way back on the muffler. I didn't have mine on long enough to have that happen but I am interrested to see if that becomes a problem for those who are keeping their exhaust stock.

I had a Heritage that fit me and I really hated tradeing it. I wasn't real sure about the Ultra I got. I'm 5'10" and I struggled a bit with the height. I had it lowered and it has grown on me. I've got about 8,000 on it and some things I really love. At idle it vibrates a bit but get a few RPM on and it is as smooth as a baby's bottom. The ride is as comfortabe as it gets. On the road I love the cruise control. It handles so much better than the heritage. Not that I reccomend it but I could turn loose of the grips on the Heritage and it would always pull left. On the Ultra, it tracks straight and true. I've ridden for miles with no hands on the grips at 60mph plus. It handles curves really well and with a bit of exta air in the rear shocks I have had it loaded with the wife and gear for the weekend and felt really good for trips up to 600 miles or so one way on the weekends.
