I was up in Cherokee last year and found a couple with the same bike with the same problem!
They were stranded and were calling in a tow service...sucked for them. Vacation ruined.

I took his key and with his permission ground down the "key" and got the bike unlocked. I was a friggin hero and stuff!

Too bad the couple accidently took my 400 dollar camera I had left on their tourpack. I tried finding them...never did. Oh well.

First thing I do when I pick up a new bike is have the SM grind the nub off one of the keys. I've had Tour Paks, saddlebags & ignition barrels askew. Having a key that'll get me in a boogered up barrel is a good thing.

I don't know about the video, but Google came up with this:

1. Turn the ignition KEY to unlock and leave the key inserted in lock assembly
2. Move ignition assembly to the "Off" position to unlock the forks. LEAVE THE KEY IN LOCK
3. Turn the Handlebars all the way to the right
4. With the ignition key still in the lock turn the LOCK ASSEMBLY to "Access"
5. Standing on the left side of the bike look at the lower left underside of the LOCK ASSEMBLY. You will see a small button in the rear left corner
6. Use a small screwdriver to depress the button and hold while pushing down on the KEY (the *KEY* not the entire ****) and turning it 60 degrees in the counter clockwise direction.
7. Lift and remove **** 8. Reverse to reinstall except there is no need to depress the button

if you know any of the guys at the harley dealership in the service department, ask them what the fix is. if you're in good standing with them, someone will perhaps come out to your bike and take a look. if nothing else, they should be able to suggest a cure

man, what a guy! fix the bike, and give them a camera, too. let me know where you're gonna be riding so i can be sitting by the side of the road, with some easily fixable 'problem'. i can always use free stuff
