Just installed 940's rode 150 miles. Change preload in 1/4 turns. One full turn is best for me ,one up. The ride is a little stiff with the 115/155 springs, same as 440 heavy duty. I think 440-4061B/C witch come with 95/140 springs may have worked better for ME. I 'm 200 lb ride one up 75% of the time. Just my 2 cents

"I know it sucks for something like that to happen while on the road, but all things considered, would you expect the Moco to give you a brand new bike if something broke in the first 400 miles? Should you be able to bring the bike to another dealer and pick one off the showroom floor? Good luck with that. "
Harley Davidson would have atleast sent you to their closest dealer and even picked up the bike if it wasn't ridable, put you in a hotel, pay your meals, fix your bike and send you on your way... At a minimum Progressive should have sent you a new pair to the closest dealership and have them installed and shiped the bad ones back.
Harley Davidson may not have tghe best shocks but they do take care of their customers...
I put a set of the 940s on my '09 Street Glide about 3 weeks ago and I love them! They are super comfortable, easy as heck to adjust if you want to change them from soft to stiff and on bumps and road imperfections, they are amazing!
Well, I have a little over 10k on the 940's still a good ride but I do hit the stoppers every once in awhile.....fully loaded....wife,tour pak, week of clothing and me. Weight wise about 475lbs.
I bought the 940's they cost more than the 440's. They smooth out the little bumps very well on a new frame Ultra. They bottom out just like explained in previous posts when two up. (With em cranked to max load). Call progressive and they will SELL you heavier springs BUT the springs are for the 440's so there goes the lowering feature you paid for ! ! You just converted the 940 to a 440, check the specs.
The return policy from the dealers is 20% plus shipping but the shock just dont work as presented. (Are you starting to get the message on how I am feeling) These are two up touring bikes the 940 will bottom out and they don't make replacement springs that are the next step heavier.
hey guys, i have some 440-4011b progressive shocks for sale if anyone is interested, they have less than 50 miles on them, bought from just leather in san jose last year they are 11.5" and a bit to short for me when the missus is on back, fine solo and i weigh 225 lbs. they will fit any flh-fltr etc. from 1980-2005 paid 500.00 sell 300.00 offer. thanks, tim
