Interesting string -- after doing 3K on my cruise to Sturgis, I'm considering it for my RK Custom. The throttle-lock twisty worked fairly well, but when my buds had their cruise control engaged, it took a frequent tweaking to stay even. Best benefit was the ability to rest the right arm, but the increased throttle friction was a bit of a pain. Sounds like it's my next upgrade. Hopefully, the wires will feed thru my Chubby 518s OK.

If you have your current switch harness wires threaded through your bars, these should fit the same way. The only issue is that the stock harness has one plug, the cruise harness has two. When you feed your switch wires through the bars, do you stuff the plug through or do you remove the wires from the housing and stuff those through?

If installing cruise on a RKCustom whether doing it yourself or letting the stealership do it, check to make sure the turn signal on the handel bars don't hit the gas tank. My stealership did'nt check after installing mine and now I have a chip on my tank. May affect other models also, just a thought.

I ran my wiring inside a set of Road King high bars and I believe the Chubby's are larger in diameter. My RK has cruise and it all fit so you should have no problem. I made a diagram of what wires went with each plug, disassembled the wires from the plugs and then put it all back together after pulling the wiring through the bars. Piece of cake.

Neckball answered your question. It's easy to disassemble the plugs, which is what I did when I installed the Chubbys. Thanks to all for the responses.

I'm going to start installing mine this evening. Guess I'll need to stop at the store for some brews.

I was already to install CC on my 06 RK STD until I read JMXP's post. Reading previous posts it sounded easy, now I am not sure. I hate to give the dealer $ if I don't have to but in this case I may have them do the install.

Don't let the dealer do it. It's really not very hard. Just take your time, be patient. You can do it.

Ok, you talked me into it. I see you are in Columbus. If I run into trouble I will pack up some beer and head over.

Thanks

You had me at beer! I have to warn you though, my HD is down right now. Getting it painted. So if you have plans of getting someone to show you the roads in Southeastern Ohio, you'd have to tolerate a VFR.

You'll get it.....take it slow and easy.
