I have heard the tranny noise too. Seems mainly in 4th or 5th. Have to pay closer attention. Being a "hot rod guy" too, I like gear noise though! Nothing like the old Muncie Rock Crusher 4 speeds. Could very well be from what was mentioned earlier about how the 1st and 5th gears are cut. Don't bother me at all as well as mechanically it's fine.
I cut my antenna too. My wife kept running in to it and then one night I was closing the garage door and it almost caught. I have cut it down to 26" and no reception loss at all so far. Engine get's up and goes for a bagger!
Thing I keep doing is kicking the dang bags as I swing my leg over to get off the bike. WHen will I stop!?!?!?!?! I find it actually easier to get on/off the bike from the right side of it. Weird?
I'm not saying there's not a problem in there - maybe there is - I'm just saying there are a lot of extenuating circumstances that might be making it seem worse than it is. But it's noisy, no doubt about it, and I imagine Harley is going to have to address it somehow.
And yeah [Bucs012] the bagger is new to me and I'm kicking my bags all the time too..

I posted that my Ultra had a real noisy transmission a week or so ago, right after I got it. I took it back to the dealer the day after I bought it, and (somewhat reluctantly) took their advice to break it in, change to synthetic and see how it did. Later, I took off the lowers and was amazed how much quieter it was - then I rode it with a 3/4 helmet and it was a lot quieter still, and I tried to imagine the bike with an exhaust like my Low Rider had (SE slip-ons), and honestly I don't think I'd have even noticed it.
