"In the thread at the ST site, the question was 'which ST system is better?' The moderator was choosing the ST set up he thought was best, not between ST and another brand."
Gwcrim, I realise ST was suggesting their best system and I agree with them.
My other comments are a generalisation not pointing at anyone in particular.
And I love your "seat of the pants dyno", still the most accurate as far as I'm concerned. My bike's been dynoed and apparently it has more on the graph than it feels on the road. It's not runnin' right 'til I feel it in the seat of my pants!!
I dont really care for the look of a single pipe on the dressers either, that was my main reason to stick with the TD setup, heat removal, easier access to some engine parts, and ugh.. looks. I had a chance to trade my stock setup for a thunderheaders 2/1. it was louder for sure, but not much. I know it would make more power, but god.. I think they are ugly as F especially with that silly afterburner tip. I dont even think black powdercoating would make it any less ugly.
The last 2 bike shows I have been to, V&H has had a booth.. I really like the sound of the black pro pipe. and think it would look good on my bike. Its just hard to spend ANOTHER $700 on exhaust. The other problem is I am not sure the VH would work with extended bags, so if I do go that route in the future, I would be looking at a pipe change again.
Update; I have removed my V&H Dresser Duals for V&H Power Duals and picked up an amazing 27 hp and nearly 7 ft/lbs with the same tune.. these are dyno tested numbers.
I am finally happy with my 103" stage 4, it's producing 112hp and 102 ft/lbs and has a smooth power arc in both which makes it a pleasure to ride at slow of fast speeds.
So, back to the original question. I have got more low end torque (and a heaps of top end) from a 2-1-2 system over a set of true duals or dresser duals, and have the paper work to prove it!
