I am bored so dont flame the question. Curious if any of you have taken a weekend trip on your touring bike and left the shield at the house. Not sure but I seem to enjoy riding my roadking with the shield off. I have a 1000 mile 3 day trip coming up ( fair amount of interstate ) and think I am an idiot for even considering this, but have any of you sucked it up and done it anyway. What was your experience? Thanks in advance. Jeff

Personally, I wouldn't take a trip without my windshield, because I find I tire much more rapidly. Although I love the look and the feel on short trips, a long trip at hwy speed for a longday of riding would just be too exhausting for me. Plus ... considering what my windshield usually looks like after a long day ... I'd much rather clean bug guts off my plexi than I would from my face.
Having said that ... I have taken road trips with people who have no windshield at all. One particular guy I know, puts his sleeping bag roll in front of the handlebars which help to redirect that initial wind turbulence, but for the most part, he's right out there ... and wouldn't have it any other way. He wouldn't even dream of putting on a windshield.

Couldn't see doing it for 3 hours let alone 3 days. I don't care for the taste of bugs and would rather not get sandblasted. Wouldn't be so bad with a full face helmet I guess but I hate those things. I'm not a "real biker" anyway so I'll keep the shield on.
Putting a sleeping bag on the front is still blocking some of the wind, so that guy is still a poser IMO.

no way Jose'......tell you what you do.....go for a ride in your car and hang your head out the window for about 10 miles.....then go home and decide! You'll be cured of thinking that way
