Been looking for a decent one myself. Don't know why I'm bothering as I always either use a disc I burned or the ipod. Still would be nice to know it worked if I ever wanted/ needed it.
I've tried 3 different ones, none are worth a crap. The one from streetglidecota worked until I put an amp in. It was getting interference from the power source somehow.
Got the same issue, worked fairly well till the amp went in...
now getting interference/static noise....
even thru the auxilary w/mp3 player
I just installed am amplified antenna under the fairing on my 09 ultra classic. Bought it at Kragen 15 bucks with military discount. attached it to the back of the stereo above the wiring harnesses and ran the 12vdc to the cigarette lighter power wire. Works great and half the price of the name brand ones and even the ones on ebay. check out the parts store best bang for the buck.
I have the inexpensive one from E-bay in the detachable fairing on my Road King and it works pretty well. For local stations it's very strong, for things farther away, things fade, but then FM signals are not not as strong as AM anyway. Weatherband? never could get that good a signal. But, for the money spent a good deal.
I have tried them all and NONE work no where near as good as the hard mount on the rear......And the most expensive, dakota digital was the worst!! Run the JM now and am not impressed,,,,,,,I will stick with listening to my MP3......
i went to radio shack and picked up a motorola plug (3.50), use some wiring from my gargage door security thing i had laying around (it has two strands). I put the wire into the plug, then split it and wound some to hang on each side of the faring. even in the garage the reception was great. sorry i did not take pictures. some friends of mine did the same thing except they used speaker wires for the antenna.
