I'm new to Harleys so be kind. I just found a leaking fork seal on my RG and watched the Video and read all the threads on removing the ignition switch.
I follow the video and everything goes great but the switch only moves up about a 1/4 inch. I have pushed down while turning the key as far to the left as it will go and I can't get it to come all the way out. I don't want to force anything because the video makes it look so easy.
Anyone have a suggestion before I call the dealer tomorrow and have them tell me to bring it in.
To remove the ignition switch ****, first turn the Ignition Switch key to UNLOCK and then turn the **** to ACCESS. Depress the release button at bottom (left side) with a small screwdriver, and while pushing key down, turn 60 degrees in a counter-clockwise direction.
Lift and remove ****.
The video is relevant ONLY if your bike is an '06 or newer model. For older models like your bike, the above quoted procedure does the trick. Do yourself a favor and buy the HD 2002 Touring Service Manual.
