I have a buddy who I ride with all the time. He used to have a 06 flhx and I had a 08 flhx w abs.In quick stop situations like a light turning red or something he was alway coming by me rear tire locked up halfway into the intersection.
Now we both have 2010 flhx's w abs. He still cannot stop fast with his bike. Its like he refuse's to apply heavy front brake. So Ability has alot to do with stoping.
If the op was stabbing the rear brake that hard, I wonder what the outcome would have been had he not had abs??? I believe bad riding habits played a part, but fortunately it didn't turn out bad.
kingkingking ,could you please enlighten me on exactly where that plug is for the front wheel sensor. I have also had too many encounters with the beginners A.B.S. and would like to do my own test. I too have owned a bmw and this is not the same level of performance especially on stutter bump stops.

It aint hard to find, just follow the cable. Note that this disables front and rear ABS.
The front brembos without ABS are awesome, they just stand the bike on its nose. Very powerful and easy to modulate. Your eyeballs feel like they are just gonna pop...
