Default ABS let me down

About rear ended a woman who had slammed her brakes on for a school bus letting kids off. I've got ABS and the pedal violently pulsated enough to throw my foot off. Had to veer to the right side of her to miss hitting her. First time its done this. I've read that on uneven roads, if the tires lose contact with the raoad, it can do this, but I'm thinking the road was level.

Isn't there an updated ABS download for the 09's?

Yes there is. When I take it in for the tank bracket recall, I'm asking about it.

I checked on the update and my bike already had the update done prior to delivery in May of '09 (at least that is what the service guys told me).

I do have a bit of an issue with the ABS on un-even wash-board roads...but probably no worse than without ABS...

I have tried to lock my rear brakes , just to get a feel for them and have not had any issues. Shop said mine had the upgrade prior to my purchase in August of 09. Not sure when the update came out.

i have an '09 ultra and live at the top of a steep gravel drive that gets pretty bumpy between 'dragging' it. coming down it in the mornings was a challenge. i had the 'upgrade' and noticed significant improvement in handling. it is now much smoother operating although the abs does still kick in once in a while if i'm coming down too fast.

bottom line - noticable improvement

sounds good considering it's gravel though. Thanks for chiming in.

I agree, I had the update done and also felt it was an improvement. The skip or cycle does not seem to be as far apart. At least you feel like you will stop eventually, before the update I had my doubts.
