Cool Stereo help

I have a 2005 Electra-Glide Standard and want put a stereo in it. Common consensus on what the package would be for the $400-600 range. Would also like to know pros and cons, likes and dislikes. For the record, I'm considering Biketronics retro radio radio kit, Sony deck (or something else?), Arc amp, and Hawg Wired speakers or Biketronis Titans. As well as Hawg Wired tweeters installed where the dummy plugs go on a Standard. Would love input and personal experience. Thanks, in advance.
A lot of the posts I see are related to the 06 to present HK bikes, so I just need input the pre HK era.

Once the Biketronics or Hawg-wired inteface module is used (with a compatible head unit), there isn't any difference between the '06 and newer bikes and your '05 or older bikes: the OEM head unit is gone; OEM speakers are replaced, etc. and electrically the wiring in the '06 and newer bikes compared to your '05 and older bikes is the same for audio purposes.

You're a helluva shopper to do what you plan to do for $500-600.

I'm not an audiophile and was content with my Biketronics/Sony set-up for 4+ years, and switched it out for the HK head unit, CB module/Intercom with Arc 125.2 amp and Infinity 6.5" speakers which has met my modest expectations.

Good luck with your project.

Sony or similar deck from biketronics so you can use your handlebar controls
Arc amp
at least the 5.25" speakers if not bigger with the mounting rings,
tweeters

hard to go wrong with a system like that or similar.

FWIW -the best thing I ever did for tunes on the 'glide was taking the time to talk with Firecap on this site and getting the ARC amp and ARC speakers - the clarity and level of sound it provides has been worth every penny...

I also ride a 2005 EGS. My set-up: Sony CDX-GT630UI FM/AM/CD with plugs for Ipod and USB [USB is great because you can load a bunch of music]. bought it thru Crutchfield; Biketronics Retro Radio kit; Hog Tunes speakers [I had them from a previous bike]; and Polk tweeters in the empty gauge holes. Don't have the invoices, but I would guess that I spent about $450.

I've got a 2007 Ultra. I replaced the front & rear speakers with Hogtunes. It was much better than stock, for sure, but I begn doing a bit of research and was wondering if something more $$$ would get me something more higher-end. The Hogtunes are good, but didn't give me the bass I expected. I know bass on a bike is difficult, since you're not in an enclosed space.

However, I just installed the Hogtunes fairing lowers speaker kit & amp on Friday. It really completed the package. It can drown out your pipes if you want, but really, it provides the lows & mids that were missing. The best way I can describe it is that it "completes" the system. I'm satisfied enough that I'm not going with the additional tweeter pod.

Smile Kenwood Radio for Dresser !

Just for kicks on friday I went by a local Stereo Shop and inquired if they worked on bikes. I have a 2009 FLHTP.....anyway wound up getting a Top of the line Kenwood w/remote and speakers for 398 installed. And yes you can hear those speakers running at 75+ mph. I could not believe it !! Plus the dealers warranty and reputation is great...That just my 2 cents...Beats yhe hell out of the biketronics set-up plus it was installed with a powered in fairing antenae
