Is another clutch spring a good idea for a 96" motor with 255 cams? Haven't installed cams yet but I'm hoping for about 85 hp and 100 tq. Would the stouter clutch help or would it be overkill?
I did. The S/E spring gives a very positive engagement. The pull is nearly double the effort but the stock pull was kinda weak to me anyway.

Do you mean pulling in the clutch lever? Did you try a reduced effort clutch if so, or did your bike already have the reduced effort? I've heard the newer bikes come factory with reduced effort clutch. How much was the SE spring?
After doing the SE-204 cams I am going to go back and upgrade my spring, and when the 107 goes in the whole clutch is getting changed but that is just me!
The spring was around 50 bucks. Yes my 07 had the reduced effort clutch. It was pretty weak when really hot. You can definitely tell there is a stronger spring when you pull the lever now.
+1
See if it slips (and it probably will) then add the SE spring. The lever pull is stiffer but far from obnoxious. Some evidently have been able to install the spring through the derby cover but mine wouldn't without distorting the spring. Still a minimal job even r&r-ing the outer primary, and no more slip.
