Default Rotor problem symptoms?

Hey guys,
I'm still having the intrmittent low voltage problem and still not sure what it is.
The stator is putting out proper amps at different RPMs and not shorted to ground anywhere.
The voltage regulator is/was putting out like 13.8 as of the other day but today was down to 11Volts.
It did this the other night on my way home (10-11 volts) but in the morning all seemed fine again.
Just like today, this morning was fine but just a little while ago the voltage was down again to like 11.

I had the battery tested(it's not a year old yet) and it tested good also.

I'm really begining to wonder if it's my rotor. What would be rotor problem symptoms. This is drivin me nuts now.

OH! I replaced the voltage regulator only 7 months ago right after I bought the bike (used) 2005 Ultra Classic)

Any ideas guys?

Pete

Had a similar problem recently,,fluctuating voltage (according to the volt meter in the batwing),,,system checked out okay,,was told possibly the volt meter was going bad. Apparently that's a not so uncommon problem... I hate electrical gremlins!

I don't think its the meter cause I can actually see the lights dim when
the meter does show low voltage.
When I parked it today the voltage was low, now I just got home and took it around the block and the volts are ok.
Wonder if the stator is kicking out once warmed up'
Yeh these electrical gremlins suck man.

Did you find out what was wrong with yours yet?

Grounds all tight and clean? Nobody uses dielectric grease on connections like it should be.

I worked midnight shift last night and on the way home this morning I stopped at Dunkin for a quick coffee.
After pulling out of Dunkin Donuts I noticed the volt meter down around 11volts and staying!
I thought great cause I had my meter with me and I can test the stator to see if it's putting out. I pulled over and disconnected the stator/voltage regulator plug and tested the stator side and was getting 24 va/c so that looked ok correct?
I wish I had someone with me to increase throttle slowly to see if it rose too but I was by myself. If I'm not mistaken I think the 24Vac is a good number for idle.

When I plugged it back together to head home (2 more blocks) and started it up I again had voltage! Maybe it is the dang plug connection!
I'm going to go outside now and see if I can clean that plug and make sure it's making a solid connection.
Any good ideas on how to do that besides maybe spraying it with contact cleaner and using some dielectric? Does Advanced Auto sell Dielectric grease?

Thanks guys for the help..
Pete

My guess would be a ground/short/loose wire issue as well. Check the connections on your ground cable on the battery at both ends. Make sure the cable itself is in good condition.

Dielectric grease is a wonderful thing.

Check the voltage regulator mounting bolts, did you use the star washers when you installed it?

COULD IT BE!
After this mornings little test on the stator and then having voltage again after plugging stator/regulator back together I thought it cant be this simple plug can it!
Well I opened up the plug when I got home and sprayed it out with some contact cleaner along with the plug at the other end of the regulator and took the bike out for a little bit and the voltage was rock solid at 14 once again!
Not even a little flicker of a drop so maybe.. Just maybe that's all it was!
I won't believe it till it stays like this for a few days but we'll se!!
PLEASE! I hope that's all it was! hahah

I'll keep you all informed...

Pete
