Default Metzler Marathon ME880

1990 FLHTCU. These are the tires I have on my bike. Just curious.. what tire pressure do you guys run with? Do you follow the owners manual, the frame instructions or whats on the tire? I am currently running 36 in the front and 41 in the rear.

I run 40/40 in my 880's on a '07 RK. I think the manual and tire sidewall recommend the same pressure, but I could be mistaken about that. 40/40 seems to give me good wear/tread life out of the front and rear.

If they say made in Brazil let all the air out and throw them away. IF they say made in Germany run 40-44 and you will be happy. Had a set of he krout tires on the old scooter and loved them.reading forum one night came across a thread about the Brazilian ones blowing out. Went out to the scooter and sure enough rear was a Brazilian. Closer inspection rather large hole stick two fingers in. and a whole section of tread was delaminating!.that ol bugger came off in a hurry. Krout are the best, Brazilians wouldn't put on a wheelbarrow

I always ran 50 psi rear in mine. And 40 front. That's the max on the sidewall.

You have to be REALLY careful about this!!! There are two types of 880s/those sized metrically and those sized "alpha". They have completely different constructions and require vastly different pressures. Here's the info from the Metzler site. If you're not sure what type you have, call Metzler and ask. Their support guys are very helpful. If you run non-alpha tires with alpha pressures, tire life is cut drastically.

Touring/Cruiser
Alpha ME880 (MH, MT, MU tires) Solo 2 Up Light 2 Up Heavy
Front 36 40 40
Rear 38 40 40

Rear 44-46 46-48 48-50
