Default 07 FLHX throttle stick

So I have an 07 SG with just over 12K that has been my daily comuter for the last seven months since my return from Iraq. I currently live in San Antonio TX and as previously stated have been riding this bike daily rain, or shine. The bike is garage kept nightly.

Yesterday afternoon when leaving from work and heading home, I noticed that the throttle had an unusual feel to it. The throttle feels as though I have to put a little more effort in it to get it to open. The response seems sluggish and when I release it, it doesn't close smoothly.

After arriving home yesterday, I took off the football cover in it's entirety. I sprayed the spring down with some WD40 and carb cleaner. I let it sit and dry and they applied some 3-in-1 oil to the spring. I then removed the throttle cable cover over the right grip. I cleaned the cables up and applied some 3-in-1 oil to the throttle sleeve. I pulled it about 10 times and seemed to be fine. This morning, I got up fired it up and as I was heading out of the drive way, same thing with the stiffness. It seemed to loosen up on the quick commmute to work so I didn't think twice. After finishing with work, I started it up jumped on and immediately noticed the same feeling. While sitting at the light with the bike in nuetral I rolled the throttle back a little and let go... it just stuck in the same place. I rode it home and haven't looked at it yet.

I am just curious if the problem could be anything else outside of the cables themselves. I don't have a manual on it yet, but will be getting one soon. the cables move freely from the insertion point of the throttle sleeve to the intake. I haven't noticed any kinks or other obstructions.

Any one who may be able to provide some assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

The idle screw should be Loctited. Some bikes missed that step at the factory and it prompted a tech tip (TT410). Your problem doesn't sound like it relates to this.

Do you have cruise control? If so, I wonder if the servo cable is binding. Try disconnecting it at the throttle body and see if that helps.
