Does anyone have experience with the 6.5 inch version? Does it work better than stock? Do other brands work better as for as lowering buffeting and wind noise at highway speeds? Basicly is it good stuff.
I have the 6.5 on my SG. I replaced the stocker with it. It is definitely better, I don't get buffeting and my glasses stay put (I'm 6'). I like the look and it actually does firm up the front end a little at higher speeds. I think any taller then 6.5 and you lose the look of the bike.
I'm 6'-2", the Klockwerks and fork baffle took care of the buffeting 100% but there is still a lot of wind noise especially if I have a 1/2 lid on.
I can turn my head side to side while at speed and never worry about losing my glasses.
I have an LRS 8" ultra on order which should be here tomorrow. I hope it will provide better protection from the wind noise. If it does, my 6.5" Klockwerks will be up for sale.

I am not sure what you are referring to as "stock", but my "stock" SG shield is only 4" and was not even barely adequate. I bought an acquantance's KW 6.5 but did not care for it(too much wind, and screw that clean air crap philosophy jargon) and now run exclusively Long Ride Shields 9 inch Flip and it hits me right between the chin and lips of my face. I can duck behind it but still see over it, which for me is how I want it. I did not care for KW 6.5, caught a lot of bugs, but looked cool.
BTW; I am 5'10" and have a SG w/a modified seat from MCC that sits about 1 inch lower than stock. I now have a fork baffle installed too which I think helps too.

I have the 6.5 KW...wasn't sure how well it did until 2 weeks ago I was in Arizona and rented a 2010 SG with a stock windshield. The 6.5 KW is much better than stock. I think the 8.5 would be too big plus I really like the look of the 6.5
I had a KW 6.5. It was a huge improvement over stock, and it did add stabiiity to the front end. I don't like the looks, and I still got a lot of turbulence. I'm 5'10"
