Well with the new frame/tyres I happy with the back end of my Ltd, however the front end is the same old softly sprung crap with too much dive. So much in fact that even with supposed better brakes it doesn't feel like they are working great and any high speed braking has to be done miles in front of a bend so that the bike can settle before that bend.
I considered the Progressive shocks, but instead I ordered some Ricor shocks a couple weeks ago. I'll do my usual write up after I get them installed and some miles put on them. The SE Heavy fork oil was a significant improvement in the forks.
Next time I might mix the regular fork oil with some SE Heavy and see how I like them. I'd like to try some of the Ricor Intimidators, but I've spent more than enough on the bike for right now. I'm going riding instead!
They are a 13" shock that can adjust down to 12". The cool thing about these are if you are wanting to ride the hills or curvy roads you can adjust them up or down and they have reference marks to keep both sides even. I lowered mine down to stock 12" and then adjusted up to the first mark. These gives the shocks about 4" of travel. The directions says no lower then 2".
Ok, I need some help here. I have a street glide. With me and the wife and the bike loaded down- and the standard shocks at about 45 PSI - the ride is good- we don't bottom out unless a really big bump. I would love to lower the front too and improve the ride, sure. But will i really see a difference? A few questions -
Wife and I are about 450 total - I assume we need HD?
Will the ride really be better? How much better? Is it like a car where you barely feel the potholes or what? Please describe this better for me.
Well my wife no longer catches air when we go over bumps. The bike has a nice floating feel. To me its used to feel more rigid and stiff. In hard turns, It feels more stable.
That is big $$$. I am going to try the Progressive gas charged fork cartridges and springs for 1/4 of the traxxion. They look like the same basic principle but Im sure not as much machine work, which I wonder if it is even necessary for a tank hd touring bike.
