Smile New to the Forum

Howdy, or as we say from New Yawk, how ya doin?? New to this forum and after taking a tour it seems pretty cool.

Anyway, new to the board, not to riding. First bike 95 FXDWG but now the geezer glide - 06 FLHX. Stock air bags not cutting it so i just ordered set of 940s and hope to have them mounted by wednesday. Looking forward to the improvement - will report my findings.

According to the website, it says that they give a 1" lowered stance. I really would like to change the shocks, but do not want the seat any lower? Is this noticeable and does the 1" make the bike sit funny?

Thanks for the review, have been a progressive fan for many years.

If you are on a street glide 12" is standard, which this shock is a 13". So the 1" lowered is stock for you. I bumped mine up to like 2 3/4 for every day comfort.

I mounted mine yesterday. I have put about 100 miles on them so far, and have just started to adjust them to feel best.

Nice improvement over stock. The bike really feels anchored in turns. The small road ridges disappear and the bone shaking potholes don't have the same impact.

Biggest improvement was in the turning, I have a Metzler 880 on the rear, which is a rounder tire than the stock, and rolls in and out of turns easier. The 940s definitely add to the ability of the tire to roll over. Cutting twisties feels much smoother.

I didn't find a significant drop in height. It feels like maybe 1/2 inch or so. I have the shocks adjusted to the stiff side right now and may get some more sag when I loosen them up.

So far, even with just a few miles on them, I'm pleased with the improvement. One thing improving the rear did, was make the front feel sloppy. That will be the next upgrade after the Summer trips.

Progressive is/was giving away front springs with every 940 purchase, so those should be headed my way soon. I may hold out and put in some drop in cartridges instead. Or run the springs and decide later on if I want to upgrade further.

I am in the process of installing the gas monotube cartridges in my forks and the 940's are coming in the mail. I will post results soon.
So now I will be selling my 440's with both std and HD springs after the install.

I have a roadglide but Im not sure about a batwing, mine is frame mounted so I have plenty of room to drop the forks and bars w/o removing the fairing.

Finally installed the front Mono Tube cartrides, rear 940 Touring shocks, and touring Link. Wow what a difference, I can hold almost any line I want cornering now in the mountain twisties. I installed the front and rear shocks as and link myself. The front wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be. Take your time and read the instructions, make sure you have a study bench vise. Use a bath towel in the vise or if you have plastic jaws as to not mar the upper crome slide as it can cause fork seal gaskets to leak. All in all,,,,, very good upgrade for around $1K. Ride Safe!
