Myself and a buddy took off on Saturday for DC. Our first time to Rolling Thunder. I have to admit it was better than I thought it would be. Gives you a whole different feeling about patriotism in the country. Here's a few pic's.
It's a great event. I did it for 11 years running, till I moved out west. Thanks for the snaps. Hope you rode in the parade. Everyone should experience that at least once.
I also rolled to Rolling Thunder this past weekend and have for many years. I thought two years ago was special when my life long friend who is a SF Army Colonel (now retired) got us vehicle passes for our bikes to ride through Arlington. We visited the graves of some of his men who died protecting him while in Iraq after an IED went off and subsequent attack by the bad guys - he lost 11 men that day all protecting him from harm and capture. We were both moved to tears that day. But this year was just as special - I attended with my son, brother in law and his nephew. My son just returned from his 5th deployment to the Gulf. It was an awesome ride and awesome weekend - just being there with my son and so many follow brothers and sisters was special. Also, this year I finally get up the courage to find my cousin on the Wall - Robert Thompson Jr. Panel 18E line 001.

To me, that's what it's all about. Paying tribute to those that have come before me. It's nice that you were able to share that with your family. Also glad to hear that your son made it back ok.
Well, you just caused me to sin, because I envy you. I have wanted to do the ride to the wall from St. Louis when they come through the area. I TRULY want to do this,, and there just keeps on being a reason it gets delayed,,
Glad you had a great time, I know I will when it happens..
