Great suggestions I am going to try each one and see what works.

I guess I should have been more clear. It sounds good, better than the radio but not as good as a CD. I guess the best way to describe it is it makes my speakers sound like they are crappy. Treble and Mid sounds good but Bass is all wacky.
  • I will try the EQ off First
  • I will turn the volume all the way up on the IPOD
  • I will try Bass Reducer
  • i will try the Bass and Treble settings recomended above on my HK

I think the quality of the sound would be better if it was coming out of the bottom plug on the IPOD as opposed to the headphone jack. Seems like the bottom is just Line Out and not affected by Volume or EQ.

Thanks guys!

I think this is the solution to my problem.

It is a wire with the Dock Connector on 1 side and a 3.5mm on the other.

This will send a Level Line Out signal to the HK Unit.

What do you think?

EQ off thats for sure, you can also try setting it to small speakers, there is a setting for that, these 2 options always work for me.

I thought the same thing about mine and found out the cord was bad. It wasn't going in and/or staying in all the way.

I think that will work great. Of note though, keep in mind you cannot charge your iPod or iPhone while using the dock. Might not be an issue for you, but worth noting.

Nothing is or will sound like CD
Unless it's a vinyl record, in which case, it will sound better.

I find that it has a LOT to do with the particular music or song. Some artists sound like crap while others seem to be pretty good. Used mine all the way up to Sturgis and back.....like I said, sound quality seemed to be very dependent on what I was listening to......just sayin

it is unlikely that your IPod will sound as good as a CD for a couple of reasons. Primarily, the D/A converter in your HK is likely better than the one in your IPod. Using the AUX connection means that the IPod is still using it's own cheapo D/A converter, whereas as a CD will be using the converter in the HK. The HK converter is still junk, but better than the IPod converter which is made to be used with ear buds or tiny speakers. The other factor can be the sampling rate and/or quality of your IPod songs. I have iTunes set to record or rip CD's at the maximum possible rate, with no compression. This makes for some massive files though. For instance, I have about 3500 songs on my IPod Classic and that uses up over 70 Gig.
