I took a stock height windshield made a template before cutting then used that to cut 2" off of it and it works great.

I have seen a lot of whining about buffeting lately. Stop the presses......Its a motorcycle!!!! I can fully understand wanting to push the wind up and over you but good grief highway air is far from smooth. if you can't take a little rough air then ride the back roads at 30mph.

That being said (sorry had to vent a little) my '08 roadie has the stock shield and works fine. I am 5'7" and the air shoots around me nicely. I can imgine the short shield on the "X" models would be next to worthless for air deflection.

Which post in this thread is whining about buffeting? Only whining I read here is . . .

I was trying to help with some solid information and pictures. Unlike . . .

Now I'm done venting . . .

Good post larson, and good photos. I have not conversed with you in a while. Say you like the windvest. Is it good for you on the interstate. Is the 14" the tallest they make?

I believe the Clearview was slightly better at highway speeds over 70. I like the Windwest for several reasons. I like the way it follows the shape of the fairing. The CV leans back much more to the point where my mirrors would hit it. I like the color and shape of the WV. One thing I have to say about the CV is that the material is twice as thick as the WV. However, the thickness of the WV is better than the Klockwerks I tried. The KW would vibrate badly and the WV doesn't.

Is there a perfect windshield????? I thought I had it with the CV but I do like the WV. Pros and Cons with both of them.

I know I'm not helping the discussion when it comes to shields. Here is what I've tried over the past 4 years.

1. Stock
2. HD Tall (too tall for me)
3. Clearview medium (great windshield)
4. Klockwerks 10" (too short)
5. Windvest 14"

I'm keeping the CV and may put it back on in the future. I'll use the WV for the entire riding season.

Last thing . . . Windshields are like seats . . . personal preference and you have to try different ones until you find what you like. Yes, it can be costly!

I am 6'5" and waiting for WV to make a even taller one or hoping LRS will come up with something.
